Vietnam police use camera data to arrest suspect in 12-year-old girl's murder

Authorities in Dak Lak province, Vietnam, have apprehended a suspect in the tragic murder of a 12-year-old girl, utilizing security camera data to expedite their investigation. The victim was discovered deceased in a water well located within a coffee field, a discovery that has deeply disturbed the local community.

The investigation began when the girl's mother reported her missing after she failed to return home from school on her electric motorbike. Police quickly mobilized, reviewing camera footage from various locations to trace her movements. The images revealed the victim traveling with a young man on an electric motorbike during the afternoon of the incident.

Based on the gathered evidence, authorities summoned P.B.N., a 20-year-old resident of the same commune, for questioning. Initially, N. denied any involvement in the crime. However, during the search for the missing girl, police discovered her body in a well. Faced with the evidence, including the discovery of the victim and potentially other findings, N. confessed to the crime. He stated that the motive stemmed from an unpaid debt, leading him to arrange a meeting with the girl, strike her with a helmet, and then conceal her body in the well. He also admitted to taking her electric motorbike and pawning it for 8 million Vietnamese dong.
