Vietnam Rubber Units Maintain High Yields for Two Decades

The Ben Cui and Ben Lay units of Tay Ninh Rubber Joint Stock Company have achieved remarkable productivity, exceeding 2 tons of rubber latex per hectare annually. Ben Cui manages about 1,200 hectares, with nearly 900 hectares in production yielding 2.139 tons/ha, while Ben Lay oversees approximately 850,000 hectares with a productivity of 2.25 tons/ha. These units are key performers for the company. Achieving this consistent high yield for two decades requires more than just favorable climate and soil; it demands meticulous plant care and sufficient labor for latex harvesting. The company has demonstrated effective management, production organization, and worker welfare over the years. Early in the year, units implemented technical solutions for plant care, focusing on preventing white-stem disease during leaf fall to maintain healthy foliage. Fertilization followed the correct schedule, balancing organic and inorganic types to enrich the soil and improve nutrient absorption. Workers also managed soil moisture during the dry season and pruned wild shoots during the rainy season, while maintaining rain shields and latex conduits to support plant growth. For new plantations, the company selected high-yield, stable varieties like RRIV 209, RRIV 106, and RRIV 1. Ngô Trần Ngọc Quý, head of the Ben Cui unit, noted improved foliage this year and plans to fertilize after the rains to boost latex quality. The unit has also added 38 workers, transitioning from D4 to D3 tapping, and aims for 2.227 tons/ha by 2026. Maintaining a skilled workforce is crucial. Management emphasizes competitive compensation, with average monthly incomes exceeding 14 million VND per worker. Additional benefits include attendance bonuses, meal support, health check-ups, and coverage for absent colleagues, alongside other welfare policies.

This year, the foliage of the trees seems better than last year. Just waiting for the rain, the team will organize fertilization to increase the quality of latex. Besides, this year, the Ben Cui Team has recruited 38 additional workers, switching from D4 to D3 tapping. The team sets a target of 2.227 tons/ha in 2026.
