Vietnam's High School Graduation Exam Sees Strong Societal Support, Increased Importance for University Admissions

Vietnam's high school graduation exam is underway, with Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son highlighting the extensive societal support for the students. This year's exam is the first to be entirely organized by local authorities, demonstrating a significant collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Health, various departments, and a large contingent of youth volunteers.

This year is the first time we have organized the high school graduation exam from the beginning with the two-level local government.

Minister Son emphasized the exam's growing importance, noting that it serves not only for graduation and assessing educational quality but also as a primary criterion for university admissions. Many universities now rely heavily on these results for selecting candidates.

The coordination from the Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Health, departments, to the Youth Union, especially the young volunteers, shows that the whole society is very interested and is joining hands to support and assist the candidates.

Furthermore, the exam results will play a crucial role in awarding scholarships for basic science, key engineering, and strategic technology fields, as stipulated by a new government decree. These scholarships will be awarded based on scores in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and English, with a more rigorous selection process for talent programs in STEM and strategic technology sectors. This focus underscores the nation's commitment to developing a skilled workforce in these critical areas.
