Vietnam's National Day Holiday Weather Forecast: Rain in North, Heat Ends in Center

Vietnam's National Day holiday, celebrated on September 2, will bring diverse weather conditions across the country. Northern regions, including Hanoi, are forecast to experience scattered thunderstorms from the evening of August 29 through August 31. The heaviest rainfall is expected between the nights of August 30 and 31. However, the weather is predicted to improve significantly from September 1 to 2, with rain decreasing and sunny spells appearing in the afternoon, making it favorable for outdoor activities.

Temperatures in the North will range from 23-27 degrees Celsius at night to 29-33 degrees Celsius during the day. In Hanoi, the forecast indicates moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms on August 30-31, followed by clear, sunny days with no rain at night from September 1-2. Daytime temperatures in the capital will be between 31-34 degrees Celsius, with lows of 24-27 degrees Celsius.

Central Vietnam is set to experience a notable shift from a heatwave to more widespread rain. From August 29-30, areas from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh may see scattered showers, while other regions, particularly from Hue to Da Nang and parts of the south-central coast, will endure intense heat, with temperatures exceeding 38 degrees Celsius. By August 31 and continuing through the holiday, the heat is expected to subside rapidly. Regions from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri will shift to moderate to heavy rain, with temperatures dropping to 30-34 degrees Celsius. Hue and the south-central coast will have sunny days with scattered afternoon and evening showers, with highs around 32-35 degrees Celsius.

Throughout the five-day holiday, the Central Highlands and Southern regions will maintain their characteristic weather pattern of intermittent sunshine during the day, followed by scattered afternoon and evening showers, with localized heavy downpours possible. Temperatures in the Central Highlands will range from 21-24 degrees Celsius at night to 27-30 degrees Celsius during the day. In the southern region, including Ho Chi Minh City, nighttime temperatures will be between 24-27 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs will reach 31-34 degrees Celsius. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting advises the public to carry rain protection for afternoon and evening outdoor activities and to be cautious of potential thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds.
