Vietnam University Entrance Exam Scores Predicted Stable for 2026

Vietnamese university entrance exam scores are expected to remain largely consistent in 2026, according to education experts. While the exams are designed to assess practical application and analytical skills rather than rote memorization, analysts predict that the overall score distribution will not see significant shifts.

Pham Thai Son, Director of Admissions and Communications at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, noted that the exam difficulty is balanced, with clear differentiation between questions. He anticipates a slight decrease in cut-off scores for top universities as they increase their enrollment quotas. Mid-tier universities are expected to maintain scores around 22-24 points, while others will likely fall between 16-22 points.

Nguyen Tran Ngoc Phuong, an admissions expert at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the trend towards evaluating competency and critical thinking. He believes this approach better serves universities in selecting suitable candidates across various disciplines. Phuong forecasts that most students will score between 6-7 points in core subjects and 5-5.5 in English, leading to a concentration of total scores between 18-22 points for many admission combinations.

Despite the stable outlook, competition for top universities and highly sought-after programs is expected to remain intense due to high applicant numbers and consistent quality of incoming students. Experts suggest that students who prepare early and utilize various admission methods will have a positive outlook for university admission.
