Vietnam Vice President urges seven cities to drive double-digit growth

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan has called on seven key Vietnamese cities to spearhead economic growth and drive sustainable double-digit expansion between 2026 and 2030. She emphasized the need for continuous innovation in emulation movements to achieve these ambitious targets.

The directive was issued during a conference in Da Nang, where representatives from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho, Hue, and Dong Nai gathered to review their emulation pacts for the first half of 2026. The meeting aimed to assess progress, refine operational regulations, and establish criteria for future evaluations.

During the conference, Da Nang Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung outlined his city's strategy. He stated that emulation movements must align with the 2026 administrative theme and economic-social development goals, emphasizing the effective implementation of special policies. Da Nang is prioritizing emulation efforts in political tasks, digital transformation, administrative reform, green economy development, and major infrastructure projects. In the first six months of 2026, Da Nang showcased 123 exemplary individuals and models, fostering the spread of effective practices across society.

Looking ahead, Da Nang plans to further innovate its emulation work, using task completion as a key performance indicator. The city encourages a spirit of creativity, bold decision-making, and accountability to meet its 2026 growth objectives. This focus is particularly critical as the city enters the latter half of 2026, a period deemed vital for implementing the "Determination to successfully achieve sustainable double-digit growth for the 2026-2030 period" emulation movement. Ho Chi Minh City's Vice Chairman Bui Minh Thanh added that emulation should be a management tool, not just a campaign, focusing on economic growth, administrative reform, digital transformation, and innovation.
