Vietnamese Cải Lương Stars Que Tran and Vo Minh Lam Team Up for Performances and Judging

Renowned Vietnamese cải lương artists Que Tran and Vo Minh Lam are set to captivate audiences with a series of joint performances and engagements. The popular duo will be featured in the cải lương play "Gánh cải trạng nguyên" (The Scholar's Traveling Troupe) at the Tran Huu Trang Theater on the evening of May 30, 2026. This play, known for its humorous and lighthearted narrative, was originally staged during the 2026 Tết holiday and has been revived due to popular demand. In the production, Que Tran portrays Truong My Chi, the daughter of a fortune teller, while Vo Minh Lam plays the impoverished scholar Hoang Phi Hoc. Their on-stage chemistry is expected to bring laughter to the audience as they navigate a comedic love story. Following this, both artists will participate in the program "Thành phố tôi yêu" (The City I Love) on May 31, which celebrates Ho Chi Minh City. Their performance, titled "Sài Gòn quê hương tôi - Thành phố niềm tin" (Saigon My Homeland - City of Belief), will offer a youthful and optimistic perspective on the city's future. The program, held in Binh Duong, will also feature other artists and patriotic songs. Beyond their performances, Que Tran and Vo Minh Lam are also lending their expertise as judges for the 2026 National Cải Lương Actor Competition in Ho Chi Minh City. For a week, they have been working alongside veteran judges to identify emerging talents in the traditional Vietnamese opera genre.
