Vietnamese Man Arrested for Murder After Refusing Drink Leads to Fatal Fight

Authorities in An Giang province, Vietnam, have arrested a 38-year-old man identified as Danh Hữu in connection with a fatal stabbing. The incident occurred after a social gathering turned violent when Hữu refused an invitation to drink alcohol.

According to initial investigations, the victim, D.S., aged 42, visited Hữu's home on the evening of July 6, 2026, and invited him to drink. When Hữu declined, D.S. allegedly slapped him twice. Enraged by the assault, Hữu retrieved a knife and repeatedly struck D.S. before retreating into his house and closing the door. D.S. subsequently collapsed and died in the yard.

The following morning, Hữu discovered D.S.'s body and alerted the victim's family before reporting himself to the Giồng Riềng commune police. Law enforcement officials from An Giang province were dispatched to the scene to conduct an investigation, including forensic examination of the site and the victim. Autopsy results confirmed that D.S. died from a severed artery, consistent with the reported knife attack.

Danh Hữu is currently in police custody and is being investigated for murder. The An Giang Provincial Police are continuing their inquiry to process the case according to legal procedures.
