Vietnamese Prime Minister hosts Thai counterpart Anutin Charnvirakul on first visit to Vietnam

Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hưng officially welcomed Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at the Government Headquarters in Hanoi for his inaugural visit to Vietnam. The two leaders met warmly, recalling their previous encounter at the 48th ASEAN Summit in the Philippines.

The welcoming ceremony featured national anthems and a review of the guard of honor, underscoring the formal nature of the visit. The Thai delegation included ministers from various sectors, including energy, economy, industry, and finance, signaling a broad scope for discussions.

This visit marks Anutin Charnvirakul's first official trip to Vietnam since taking office in September 2025. It follows closely on the heels of Vietnamese President To Lam's visit to Thailand. According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung, the timing demonstrates Thailand's high regard for its bilateral ties with Vietnam and its government's determination to foster further cooperation.

Thai government spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek stated that the primary objective of the trip is to identify areas for immediate enhancement with Vietnam. Key sectors targeted for advancement include expanding trade, promoting investment, improving logistics connectivity, developing clean energy, ensuring food security, and fostering human resource development.

Beyond the official state visit, Prime Minister Charnvirakul is also participating in the third ASEAN Future Forum, an annual event initiated by Vietnam. This engagement further emphasizes Thailand's commitment to strengthening its relationship with Vietnam and participating in regional initiatives.
