Vietnamese Students Help Police Nab Theft Suspect

In a display of civic responsibility and sharp observation, a group of five 8th-grade students from THCS Cat Hanh school in Hoa Hoi commune, Gia Lai province, played a crucial role in assisting local police in apprehending a theft suspect. Their quick thinking and willingness to report suspicious activity demonstrate a commendable level of community engagement and awareness.

The students, identified as being out for a walk, noticed Ho Ngoc Son, a 19-year-old local resident, operating a motorcycle without a license plate and behaving in a manner that raised their suspicions. Instead of ignoring the situation, they promptly contacted the Hoa Hoi Commune Police, providing timely information that enabled law enforcement to act swiftly.

Responding to the alert, the commune police patrol unit intercepted Son, bringing him to the station for questioning. Under interrogation, Son admitted to stealing a Honda Wave motorcycle and two mobile phones on May 17th from a friend's house in Dong Hai ward. He had removed the license plate from the stolen motorcycle and was attempting to dispose of the stolen goods in Hoa Hoi commune when the vigilant students spotted him.

This incident highlights the positive impact of community-police cooperation. The proactive stance of these young students not only led to the recovery of stolen property but also contributed to maintaining public security and order in the local area. Their actions serve as an inspiring example of how ordinary citizens, especially the youth, can actively participate in crime prevention and support the efforts of law enforcement agencies in Vietnam.
