Vincent Bolloré attacks media coverage, calling it the work of “venomous sewer cleaners”

Vincent Bolloré has launched a sharp attack on the media coverage he has received in recent weeks, accusing journalists of writing about his thoughts and judgments without knowing him or speaking to him.

In a lengthy post on X, the Breton businessman targeted several books and newspaper front pages devoted to him. “My astonishment is that they explain with confidence, without knowing me or having spoken to me, what is in my head and the judgments I supposedly made about one person or another,” he wrote.

He said these “unprofessional methods of venomous sewer cleaners” served one purpose: trying to discredit someone who dared to resist what he called the small caste running the country and its media arm. Bolloré said he could easily forgive the attacks. “As a Christian democrat, as a democrat I respect elections and those who have been elected, and as a Christian I readily forgive the slanderers and defamers and let them say what they want about me personally,” he wrote.

Bolloré also announced that he would publish the manifesto of the Institut de l’Espérance in full with his colleagues at the Christian think tank. He said the decision would prevent the document from being falsely caricatured before its complete release. The group, which he described as bringing together around 15 Christian figures, has been working for several months on proposals for France ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The manifesto is presented as a plan to restore purchasing power, strengthen freedom and security, help vulnerable people and build a France that Bolloré describes as “happier, more harmonious and united.” Bolloré owns a large media empire that includes CNews, Europe 1, the Journal du Dimanche and Hachette. Its political direction has drawn criticism, particularly from the left. The manifesto had previously been expected in late May or early June, but that publication did not follow.
