Vincent Pastore, Sopranos Actor, Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, an actor celebrated for his role in the acclaimed series The Sopranos, has passed away at the age of 80. His agent, Arnold Atttermann, remembered Pastore as a passionate actor who was always encouraging and generous with his time for younger actors.

"For me, losing Vinny is deeply personal," Atttermann stated. "Over more than three decades, I had the honor of watching not only his remarkable career but also the incredible person he was. I will miss his friendship, his loyalty, his humor, and his heart."

He loved being an actor. He was passionate about his craft and was always encouraging, respectful, and generous with young actors, taking the time to offer guidance and support whenever he could.

Born in the Bronx in 1946, Pastore enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. His acting journey began with early roles in films like "Goodfellas" and "Carlito's Way." He also made television appearances in shows such as "Law & Order," "General Hospital," and "Hawaii Five-O."

However, it was his portrayal of Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero in "The Sopranos" that brought Pastore widespread fame. He was a part of all six seasons of the critically lauded series, even though his character was written out in the second season. In 2000, Pastore and his fellow "Sopranos" cast members were honored with the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
