Pastore was discovered deceased in his home in the Bronx, New York, where he was born. A neighbor found him after not hearing from him for three days. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. His manager and representative, Bob McGowan, confirmed the news after being informed by one of Pastore's close friends and "Sopranos" co-stars, Vincent Curatola.

"Big Pussy" Bonpensiero was one of "The Sopranos'" most memorable characters, known for his complex relationship with Tony Soprano and his eventual role as an FBI informant. Pastore's performance in the series, which ran from 1999 to 2007, was central to its early seasons. He also participated in a 25th-anniversary tribute to the show in 2024.
