Vincenzo Italiano's victory statement: 'We could have scored more goals, but...'

Beşiktaş Technical Director Vincenzo Italiano described the team's performance as a "very positive night" following their match against Midtjylland. He highlighted the exceptional atmosphere at the stadium, stating it "pushes the players" and provides a "tremendous feeling."

Italiano acknowledged that while the team started well and created numerous scoring chances in the first half, they could have been more clinical. He noted that Midtjylland became more defensive in the second half, but Beşiktaş still managed to create opportunities. "We could have scored more goals, we could have created more chances, we could have tried more shots from outside the penalty area," Italiano admitted.

Despite the missed opportunities, Italiano expressed satisfaction with what he saw, especially considering the team has only been training for 20 days. "We are not at our highest level yet, that's a fact. We've been working for 20 days, so it gives me hope," he said. He believes the team will improve, particularly in converting chances, and aims to "automate" these improvements going forward.

Italiano also commented on playing against a team that "closed down" more in the second half and acknowledged that playing against 10 men (presumably referring to a red card for the opponent) could have been handled better. He concluded by congratulating the players and thanking the fans, emphasizing that the supporters are the team's "driving force." He looks forward to the return leg, anticipating it will be a "battlefield."
