Vinícius: “We are going to win the Champions League”

Vinícius has made an emphatic prediction for Real Madrid’s Champions League campaign: “We are going to win it.” The Brazilian said the team has not performed at the expected level in the past two editions, but believes the squad is now ready to challenge for the club’s 16th title.

“Our first objective is to finish among the top eight,” Vinícius said in statements released by Real Madrid. “We are always excited about the Champions League. The season will be different from the last two Champions Leagues and we are going to win it.”

Real Madrid’s first league-phase match will come against Inter, a team Vinícius described as physically powerful and difficult to face. He noted that Inter defend with five players, a system that can create problems for Madrid, although he said the coaching staff had prepared for it. Injuries have made the task harder, he added, but the team hopes to draw strength from its connection with the supporters.
