Virgin of Carmen: Hundreds Participate in Patronal Feast, Fulfilling Promises

In Puerto Caimito, La Chorrera, hundreds of faithful gathered to celebrate the patronal feast of the Virgin of Carmen. Religious activities began early with the Holy Rosary, followed by the first Eucharist, drawing hundreds of pilgrims.

Many devotees, including Caimito, made the journey from La Chorrera on foot to express their faith and gratitude. Caimito has undertaken this pilgrimage for 11 years, praying for his family's health, well-being, and prosperity, as well as for colleagues facing health issues. He shared that those with faith in the Virgin of Carmen "get ahead."

This year, Caimito noted a decrease in the number of walkers compared to previous years, attributing it to many choosing to travel at night or in the early morning. He mentioned the walk from La Chorrera took about one hour and 20 minutes, accompanied by two people.

Another devotee recounted fulfilling a decade-long promise, walking barefoot despite experiencing asthma all night. She stated, "It is a vow I have to pay." She credits the Virgin of Carmen for help during difficult times and intends to continue her annual demonstration of devotion.

The celebration continued with more masses and liturgical acts, honoring the patroness and drawing thousands of faithful each year.
