Vlerick Business School Director and Basketball Club Chairman Patrick De Greve Dies Unexpectedly

Patrick De Greve, a prominent figure in both business and sports, died unexpectedly on Friday from a heart attack. He was 55 years old.

De Greve served as the general director of the Vlerick Business School in Ghent for over 30 years. He was also the chairman of the LDP Donza basketball club, which has teams in Deinze, De Pinte, Nazareth, and Sint-Martens-Latem.

With great sadness, we must inform you that Patrick De Greve, chairman of our club, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, August 21, at UZ Gent as a result of a heart attack.

LDP Donza announced the news on its website, expressing deep sorrow. The club remembered De Greve as more than just a chairman, calling him a "tireless motivator, constructive coach, eternal enthusiast, listening ear, gifted storyteller, warm supporter, and jack-of-all-trades." The club stated he was a friend and confidant to many, and a "rock" for his wife, Tine, and their sons, Cesar and Theo.

In tribute to De Greve, all LDP Donza teams will hold a moment of silence during their upcoming training sessions or matches. The club's August 30th club day will also be modified, with only photo sessions taking place and other activities canceled. LDP Donza will also open a book of condolences.
