Vlogger Sourav Joshi retracts E20 petrol claim, cites engine issue in Mercedes SUV

Indian vlogger Sourav Joshi has walked back his earlier assertion that E20 petrol was responsible for a drastic drop in mileage for his Mercedes-Benz SUV. Joshi stated on Monday that the issue was actually related to an "engine issue" identified by the car's service center.

His clarification follows an advisory from Mercedes-Benz India, which affirmed that all its BS VI petrol vehicles are fully compatible with E20 fuel. The German automaker emphasized that customer safety, vehicle reliability, and performance are paramount, and their petrol vehicles are certified accordingly.

We visited the Mercedes service centre, and they found that there was an issue with the engine, which was causing the low mileage. I apologise for the misunderstanding regarding E20 petrol.

Joshi apologized for any misunderstanding his previous statements may have caused, particularly regarding E20 fuel. He explained that the service center discovered an engine problem contributing to the low mileage and confirmed he had edited the relevant part of his video accordingly.

Previously, Joshi, who is India's most-followed daily vlogger, had shared a video claiming his Mercedes-Benz's mileage had plummeted from 17 to 5 within two days. He blamed the fuel, specifically mentioning ethanol, and expressed concern about potential mechanical damage and the vehicle breaking down. He noted that a full tank, previously offering a range of about 800 kilometers, now showed an estimated range of only 480 kilometers.
