Vodde threw 90 pitches over seven innings, allowing only three hits and two walks. Supported by stellar defense from his teammates, he effectively shut down the Rakuten offense. The Monkeys managed to score their only run in the top of the ninth inning when Lin Tzu-Wei hit a home run off reliever Lee Chen-Chang, but it was not enough to mount a comeback.
