Volkswagen cost-cutting plan puts four plants at risk

Four Volkswagen plants are at risk as the company looks ahead to the next decade of production. The sites in Emden, Zwickau, Hanover and Neckarsulm do not have a guaranteed competitive successor operation, Volkswagen said.

The uncertainty concerns the years 2031 to 2034, with the transition planned in stages. Volkswagen said it would examine alternative uses for the four locations alongside its search for future production options.
