Volkswagen Golf GTI EDITION 50 Arrives in Taiwan as Most Powerful GTI Ever

Volkswagen has introduced the Golf GTI EDITION 50 special edition in Taiwan, celebrating 50 years since the first-generation Golf GTI's debut. This new model emphasizes performance and driving pleasure, with a starting price of NT$1.948 million. Three color options are available: Crystal White, Dragon Green, and Storm Red.

The Golf GTI EDITION 50 is distinguished by exclusive exterior features, including sportier bumpers, a black styling package, "GTI 50" badges, a large rear spoiler, and side decals. It rides on special "Queenstown" 19-inch alloy wheels and features red brake calipers with enlarged ventilated discs, enhancing its aggressive stance.

Inside, the cabin retains classic GTI design cues with red stitching, new patterned sport seats, "GTI 50" branded door sills and metal pedals, and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel also bearing a "GTI 50" emblem. The car comes standard with a Harman Kardon sound system, a head-up display, and a 12.9-inch Discover Pro infotainment system, balancing performance with everyday usability.

Under the hood, the Golf GTI EDITION 50 is powered by an enhanced 2.0 TSI turbocharged gasoline engine, delivering a peak output of 325 horsepower and 42.8 kgm of torque. This marks a new power record for the GTI series. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds and has a top speed of 270 km/h. It is equipped with a VAQ front axle electronic limited-slip differential, VDM vehicle dynamics management system, DCC adaptive chassis control, and a Nürburgring-tuned "Special" track mode for sharper steering and improved handling in high-speed corners and extreme driving conditions. The model also achieved a lap time of 7 minutes 44.523 seconds on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, making it the fastest front-wheel-drive production car on the track.
