Vucetich Returns to Tigres as Interim Coach and Sports VP

Víctor Manuel Vucetich, affectionately known as "El Rey Midas," has returned to Tigres for his third tenure with the club, taking on the dual role of interim head coach and sports vice president. This move comes as Tigres undergoes a restructuring, with Gerardo Torrado stepping down from the sports vice president position.

Tigres announced Vucetich's return through a statement, highlighting his extensive experience in Mexican football and his familiarity with the institution. The club emphasized that his interim coaching role will allow the board ample time to search for a permanent coach, following the exit of Guido Pizarro. Before Vucetich's interim appointment, Hernán Elizondo briefly managed the team during the Leagues Cup and two Liga MX Apertura 2026 matches. Elizondo will now return to the U-21 squad, while Carlos Turribartes will continue as an assistant coach for the first team. Vucetich acknowledged the need to address the primary issue of coaching first, before considering other priorities and potential candidates, emphasizing that the right timing and various factors are crucial for making the correct choice.
