Wander Volcano: New Designer Cabins Offer Stunning Views of Mexico's Popocatépetl Volcano

Mexico's iconic Popocatépetl volcano, known for its mystical and imposing presence, will soon be complemented by a new luxury accommodation experience. Wander Volcano, the eighth property from Mexican company Wander Cabins, is preparing to open its doors, offering guests a unique opportunity to stay in designer cabins with breathtaking views of the active volcano.

These six cabins, designed by Rodrigo Saavedra Pérez-Salas of Saavedra Arquitectos, are crafted to blend seamlessly with the natural environment. Built with steel, concrete, and wood, they feature a contemporary, minimalist style that prioritizes natural light, expansive views, and integration with the complex mountain terrain. Each cabin is equipped with a queen bed, private bathroom, kitchenette facilities, a wood-burning fireplace, and a floor-to-ceiling window offering direct vistas of Popocatépetl.

Adding to the unique offerings, Wander Volcano's cabins will be the first in the Wander brand to feature private outdoor jacuzzis, allowing guests to relax while taking in the scenery. The property also boasts a spa with a sauna, massage area, cold plunge, and showers, as well as an outdoor cinema and campfire areas. Activities will focus on wellness and connecting with nature, including guided hikes.

Guests can arrange for various services, such as continental breakfasts, wine, room decorations, or picnic baskets. While there is no on-site restaurant, guests are encouraged to bring their own supplies to prepare meals in their cabins. Located in a cool mountain forest near Buenavista Villa Turística, the site is a manageable drive from Cholula and Puebla city, and a two-hour journey from Mexico City.

Wander Volcano is set to welcome its first guests starting Tuesday, September 1. The location is monitored by the National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED) and lies outside the volcano's 12-kilometer exclusion zone, ensuring a safe yet immersive experience for visitors eager to witness the grandeur of 'Don Goyo'.
