Wanli Creek Landslide Lake Overflow Delayed; Taiwan Railways Trains to Resume Service After 5 PM Today

Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) announced on the evening of May 17 that train services on the eastern and southern main lines would resume normal operations after 5:00 PM. This decision was made based on the latest water level information for the Wanli Creek landslide lake, which indicated a delay in the overflow.

The TRA stated that all scheduled and unscheduled trains on the eastern and southern main lines, as well as all branch lines across Taiwan, would return to normal service. Specifically, several southbound and northbound numbered trains on the eastern main line, including services from Hualien to Taitung and Xinzuoying to Taipei, were confirmed to be running as scheduled. Unscheduled trains were also set to resume normal operations starting at 5:00 PM.

Additionally, standing room tickets for the EMU3000 'New Super Express' trains on the eastern and southern lines were made available on May 17. The TRA also indicated that they would release further updates on train operations for May 18 before 9:00 PM, depending on the latest water level conditions.
