Wanted Vietnamese man returns from Cambodia and surrenders at Tây Ninh border gate

A 25-year-old man wanted in Vietnam for property theft returned from Cambodia and surrendered at the Mộc Bài international border gate in Tây Ninh, according to the Tây Ninh Border Guard Command.

Dương Văn Hiệp, a resident of Yên Dũng Ward in Bắc Ninh province, arrived at the border crossing at about 1 p.m. on Sept. 6. Officers from the Mộc Bài international border guard station and Bắc Ninh’s criminal police division had persuaded him to surrender after he came back to Vietnam.

The wanted notice had been issued on March 6, 2023, by the investigative police agency of the former Yên Dũng district in what was then Bắc Giang province. Hiệp was wanted on suspicion of property theft.

After receiving him, border guards imposed an administrative fine for an immigration-related violation. They then worked with Bắc Ninh criminal police to draw up the handover record. Later that afternoon, Bắc Ninh police escorted Hiệp back to the province for processing under the law.
