Waregem bans headscarves in municipal schools

Waregem’s municipal primary schools are introducing a ban on headscarves and other religious or political symbols and clothing during educational activities. The restriction now appears in the schools’ regulations.

Education alderman Marie Van Tieghem said the policy had already functioned as “an unwritten rule.”
