Authorities are set to provide an update on the Bald Range wildfire in British Columbia during a media briefing Monday evening. The briefing will include participation from elected officials representing the District of Summerland, the Penticton Indian Band, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, and the City of Penticton.

The Bald Range wildfire, which ignited Friday afternoon, has rapidly expanded and is now mapped at over 15,500 hectares. This significant blaze has forced thousands of residents to evacuate their homes, leaving them displaced. The full extent of the damage and the impact on the affected communities are still being assessed.

Adding to the concern, the cause of the wildfire remains under investigation. The RCMP confirmed on Monday that officers are actively looking into any reports of suspicious activity that may be related to the fire's origin. The briefing is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. PT and will be live-streamed.
