Watch Live Streaming of Independence Ceremony at Merdeka Palace

Indonesia will commemorate its 81st Independence Day with a ceremony at the State Palace on Monday, August 17. The public can witness the event through live streaming on CNN Indonesia's YouTube channel, allowing a wider audience to participate in the national celebration.

The day's events are scheduled to begin with the flag-raising ceremony at approximately 7:30 AM Western Indonesian Time (WIB). This will be followed by the main event, the Ceremony of the Proclamation of Independence, at 10:00 AM WIB. The day will conclude with the flag-lowering ceremony at 5:00 PM WIB.

Citizens attending the ceremony at Merdeka Palace were seen dressed in traditional attire from various regions of Indonesia, showcasing the nation's rich cultural diversity. Upon entering the palace grounds, attendees received gift bags containing souvenirs to commemorate the 81st anniversary. These included items such as hats, towels, mugs, a book titled "Presiden Solusi" (President's Solution), umbrellas, and traditional toys like rubber bands and marbles, along with snacks.
