Wayans family returns to "Scary Movie" franchise, targets "cancel culture"

The Wayans family is bringing their signature humor back to the big screen with a new installment in the classic horror-comedy series, "Scary Movie." This latest entry, simply titled "Scary Movie" without a number, promises a fresh wave of parody, targeting every conceivable horror movie trope, including reboots, sequels, prequels, and spin-offs.

Marlon Wayans, a progenitor of the franchise and creator of "White Chicks," expressed his commitment to family involvement. "If there aren't a bunch of Wayans family members, it's not a Wayans family movie," he stated. He also humorously noted the family's multi-generational presence, suggesting it's a good way to "teach the younger generation how to do it."

Members of the expansive Wayans clan, including Greg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Marlon Wayans, are all contributing. Greg Wayans jokingly referred to himself as the "11th pick" of the family members involved, while Kim Wayans expressed enjoyment in collaborating with her brothers. Craig Wayans described the filming process as a "family reunion," and Shawn Wayans enthusiastically called the movie "awesome, crazy, and totally Wayans spoof style."

The film's premise centers on the core group of survivors, 26 years after their initial escape from the familiar masked killer, "Ghostface." They are now set to confront the murderer once again, with the movie aiming to dissect and mock all horror IP. The production also explicitly targets "cancel culture," vowing to "cancel cancel culture" through its unapologetic humor. "Scary Movie" is set to premiere in Taiwan on June 5.
