Weather: Cloudy and windy start to the week in the north

The week is beginning with cloudy and windy conditions across northern Germany. On Monday, skies will be heavily overcast initially, with the sun expected to break through later in the day. The German Weather Service (DWD) forecasts temperatures to hover around 17 degrees Celsius in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, with most areas remaining dry. However, there is a chance of isolated showers and brief thunderstorms, particularly towards Fehmarn.

Coastal areas can expect strong, gusty winds. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern may also experience scattered showers. While the afternoon is expected to bring some clearing, a slight risk of thunderstorms persists from Rügen to Usedom, accompanied by fresh wind gusts, and potentially stormy gusts inland.

The night into Tuesday will remain mostly dry but cloudy across all regions. Minimum temperatures will drop to eight to ten degrees Celsius in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, with slightly milder temperatures in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Fresh, gusty winds are expected along the coast.

Tuesday is forecast to be similarly cloudy, with intermittent sunshine and localized rain, though most of the day should remain dry. High temperatures will reach between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius, with breezy conditions continuing at the coast. The night into Wednesday may see a few scattered raindrops, but cloud cover will persist. Lows will range from seven to twelve degrees Celsius. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, mist and fog could develop in the morning.
