Weather: First summer vacation week is changeable

The start of summer vacation in Saxony is marked by a change in weather, with the first week expected to be predominantly cloudy and cool. The German Weather Service (DWD) forecasts intermittent rain showers and moderate temperatures across the region for the initial days of the holiday period.

Residents and visitors can expect overcast skies on both Monday and Tuesday, with a recommendation to keep umbrellas handy due to the possibility of scattered showers. Daytime highs in the lowlands are predicted to hover between 21 and 25 degrees Celsius, while mountainous areas will experience slightly cooler conditions. This weather pattern is attributed to a northwesterly flow bringing cool, moist air into Saxony, according to the DWD.

However, a shift towards more summery conditions is anticipated from Wednesday onwards. The forecast indicates that sunshine will become more frequent, and by the weekend, the trend points towards warm, pleasant weather with temperatures potentially reaching just below 30 degrees Celsius.
