Weather report: Where 36 degrees are expected this weekend

Baden-Württemberg is set to experience another intense heatwave, with forecasts predicting temperatures could soar as high as 36 degrees Celsius. The German Weather Service (DWD) anticipates two distinct peaks in the upcoming heat, the first arriving on Sunday and a subsequent surge expected mid-week.

On Sunday, temperatures along the Rhine are forecast to reach approximately 36 degrees Celsius, while other parts of the state may see highs around 29 degrees or more. The DWD's Marco Puckert noted that a second "mountain" of heat is expected on Wednesday, potentially bringing widespread temperatures of 35 degrees across the southwest.

Despite the extreme daytime heat, nights are expected to offer some respite. Puckert indicated that temperatures will cool down significantly, allowing for ventilation. Overnight lows on Saturday and Sunday are predicted to range between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius. However, the possibility of "tropical nights," where temperatures do not drop below 20 degrees, exists for Monday night in some areas.

The increased heat on Sunday also raises the risk of localized, intense "heat thunderstorms," particularly in the Swabian Jura and Black Forest regions, though such events could occur in lowlands as well. These thunderstorms are difficult to predict precisely in terms of timing and location.
