Wecandance festival in Zeebrugge welcomes 45,000 visitors, 5,000 fewer than last year

The Wecandance festival on Zeebrugge beach drew 45,000 attendees this past weekend, a decrease of 5,000 visitors compared to the previous year. Despite the lower turnout, organizers expressed satisfaction with the event's smooth execution.

We have not had any significant incidents at the festival. Everything went according to plan.

Yasmine Zahnoun, an organizer, stated that the festival proceeded without any major incidents. "Everything went according to plan," she said. The event kicked off slightly later on Friday than in prior years. Anticipating warm weather, organizers provided free drinking water and sunscreen dispensers for attendees.

We consciously choose to keep the theme open and open to personal interpretation.

This year's central theme was 'Transparency,' inviting festival-goers to interpret and express it through their attire. Zahnoun noted the diverse interpretations, ranging from subtle transparent elements to more daring outfits. The festival also introduced updates to three of its six stages, including "The Bloody Moon," "the UFO," and "the Superclub." A new observation tower offered panoramic views of the main stage and the sea.

We have received a lot of positive feedback from visitors about the new stages and the line-up.

Despite the reduced visitor numbers, the organization reported receiving numerous positive comments regarding the new stages, the lineup, and the overall enhanced experience. The warm temperatures did not pose a significant problem, thanks to the provision of extra water stations and shaded areas. A dedicated safe space was also available for anyone feeling unwell.
