Fashion and interior design are reshaping weddings, as couples borrow ideas from the spaces, restaurants, hotels and luxury brands they encounter around the world.

Runway trends now influence more than wedding dresses. Sculptural silhouettes, unusual textures, dramatic draping, bows, metallics, sheer fabrics, unexpected colors and precise tailoring can all appear in tents, invitations, cakes and tablescapes. Bridal fashion itself is becoming less formulaic, with brides changing looks, wearing shorter dresses or statement accessories, and choosing dramatic veils and fashion-forward reception outfits. Grooms are also embracing more color, texture and individuality.

Interior design has brought an equally broad shift. Wedding décor now extends beyond flowers, linens and centerpieces to include chairs, lamps, rugs, bars, shelving, furniture, textured fabrics and architectural details. Lounges can resemble stylish living rooms, while bars become statement pieces and dinner spaces use layered lighting and objects to create a designed interior.

Residential-style lighting has a particularly strong effect. Table lamps, shaded pendants and warm pools of light can make large spaces feel intimate and give outdoor celebrations a sense of warmth and permanence. Boutique hotels, restaurants and private members’ clubs are becoming important sources of inspiration as couples bring their travel and dining experiences into wedding design.
