Weekend Heatwave: Temperatures to Reach 35 Degrees Celsius in Romania

Romania is bracing for a hot weekend, with the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) forecasting temperatures to climb as high as 35 degrees Celsius. Saturday, August 15th, is expected to be generally fair, but temperatures will rise significantly, especially in the western parts of the country, where highs could reach 34 degrees Celsius.

Warm conditions are anticipated in the western, northwestern, central, and parts of the southern regions. Isolated, short-duration rain showers may occur in mountainous areas and along the coast. The sky will be partly cloudy during the day, becoming clearer in the evening across most of the country. Winds will be light to moderate, with gusts potentially reaching 40-45 kilometers per hour in southern Banat and Dobrogea. Overnight, temperatures could drop to as low as 5 degrees Celsius in eastern Transylvanian depressions, while reaching around 20 degrees Celsius in the Western Hills and along the coast.

Sunday is set to continue the warm weather pattern, becoming hot across much of the country and potentially scorching in the Western Plain. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 25 degrees Celsius on the coast and a sweltering 35 degrees Celsius in the Western Plain. The sky will be variable in mountainous areas and Dobrogea, with predominantly clear skies elsewhere. Winds will remain light to moderate, with potential gusts of 40-50 kilometers per hour in southern Banat. Minimum temperatures on Sunday night will range from 7 degrees Celsius in eastern Transylvanian depressions to 22 degrees Celsius in the Western Hills.

In Bucharest, the weather will be warm with clear skies and light to moderate winds. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 30 degrees Celsius, with nighttime lows between 13-15 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, Bucharest will remain warm, with a maximum of approximately 30 degrees Celsius and nighttime temperatures between 14-16 degrees Celsius.
