What Happened? Liverpool Star Excluded from Dutch National Team

Jeremie Frimpong, a standout player for Liverpool, has been notably excluded from the Dutch national team's latest squad, a decision that has raised eyebrows. This omission stands in contrast to the selection of his Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch, who all made the cut.

Frimpong's absence appears to be linked to his history of injuries, a factor that may have influenced coach Ronald Koeman's selection. However, Koeman has included other players who are also reportedly not in peak physical condition, such as Memphis Depay, Jurrien Timber, and Justin Kluivert.

Koeman addressed the inclusion of Depay, who recently returned after a two-month layoff. "He is valuable to us off the field as well. In April, I myself didn't know when he would be able to play again. I expect a Depay who is what we need. Besides him, I don't see anyone else who can do this. I believe he can add to the team, but he still has to get through this period," the coach explained.

The full squad announced includes goalkeepers Bart Verbruggen, Mark Flekken, and Robin Roefs. Defenders selected are Virgil van Dijk, Denzel Dumfries, Nathan Aké, Jurrien Timber, Micky van de Ven, Jan Paul van Hecke, and Jorrel Hato. Midfielders named are Frenkie de Jong, Marten de Roon, Tijjani Reijnders, Teun Koopmeiners, Ryan Gravenberch, Mats Wieffer, Quinten Timber, Guus Til, and Crysencio Summerville. The forwards chosen are Memphis Depay, Wout Weghorst, Donyell Malen, Cody Gakpo, Nia Lang, Justin Kluivert, and Brian Brobbey.
