What Is Happening With Dinamo’s Training Camp? Tomašević Responds to Boban: ‘We Have Four Court Disputes’

Zagrebello could provide Dinamo with the training facilities it needs, but four court disputes are preventing the city from taking control of the site. Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević said the city and the club are continuing talks while also looking for temporary alternatives.

“I saw Zvonimir Boban’s statements. The City of Zagreb and Dinamo are in constant communication, and we are all very aware of what things need to look like,” Tomašević said, referring to recent comments by Dinamo’s executive board president.

The first major step is expected to be the completion of reconstruction at Kranjčevićeva Stadium. Tomašević said the work is progressing well. Once it is finished, Dinamo should move there from Maksimir, allowing the old Maksimir stadium to be removed and making room for the design and construction of a new stadium under an agreement between the government and the city.

An international architectural competition is currently defining the future design of the new Maksimir. But Tomašević stressed that Dinamo needs more than a stadium. It also requires additional football pitches and a proper training camp.

“Zagrebello is unfortunately not in our hands because a legal dispute is still under way. The site would certainly meet Dinamo’s needs for the time being, but we cannot take possession. We have four court disputes concerning Zagrebello,” he said. He added that the city hopes they are nearing an end and is seeking alternatives that could satisfy Dinamo at least temporarily.

Some additional pitches are expected to form part of the future Maksimir project, but Tomašević said they will not meet all the needs of a professional club that plays in Europe every year. The city will continue discussions with Dinamo over a broader solution for the camp.
