WhatsApp will soon make it easier to use groups

WhatsApp is enhancing its group chat experience with a redesigned group info screen aimed at streamlining navigation and improving feature accessibility. The update focuses on making key settings more visible and reducing the need to scroll through lengthy menus.

The primary change introduces a three-tab system within the group info screen: 'Members,' 'Media,' and 'Settings.' The 'Members' tab lists all participants and their roles, allowing users to view profiles or start private chats. The 'Media' tab consolidates all shared media, links, and documents, along with kept messages, into one location. The 'Settings' tab groups core chat parameters, including permissions and privacy options.

The new interface allows users to find what they are looking for faster by making the most important settings immediately visible. Instead of a long list, parameters are now organized by category.

Two new sections, 'Preferences' and 'Privacy,' have also been added. 'Preferences' houses settings like chat themes, media visibility in the device gallery, and storage management. The 'Privacy' section includes security features such as Chat Lock, which uses biometric authentication or a passcode, and Encryption, allowing users to verify end-to-end protection.

This revamped interface was initially tested on the WhatsApp beta for Android and is now being rolled out to some iOS users via TestFlight. While the update is being implemented gradually, it is expected to become available to a wider audience in the coming weeks.
