When everything is gone, where do families start again?

When the Bhotekoshi River flash-flooded on the morning of August 26, families in Nepal's Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts had almost no time to react. They could run, but they could not save what they owned.

Within minutes, homes and livestock were gone. So were land documents, bank cheques, ATM cards and cash savings kept at home. The losses erased not only shelter and property, but also the documents and money families rely on to begin again.

The article says more than 1,300 lives have so far been affected, leaving families to confront the question of where recovery can start when nearly everything has disappeared.
