Where Will Protests Take Place in Mexico City on Tuesday, September 8? Demonstrations Planned Across the Capital

One march and six gatherings are planned across Mexico City on Tuesday, September 8, with organizers focusing on health care, human rights, water access and labor issues.

At 10 a.m., the Fundación “Un Respiro para la Vida” will march from the Cuauhtémoc Monument on Paseo de la Reforma to the Chamber of Deputies. Held during World Cystic Fibrosis Day, the protest will demand diagnostic and treatment services and the inclusion of Trikafta in the national health formulary.

At the same time, the Colectiva “Equis, Justicia para las Mujeres” will hold activities at the Supreme Court and the National Palace. It is seeking recognition of a Guerrero woman's innocence and the annulment of a 30-year sentence for kidnapping, as well as a review of alleged irregularities and human rights violations in her case.

The Unión Nacional de Trabajadores Agrícolas will gather outside the National Water Commission in Coyoacán. Its demands include equitable access to water for farmers, an end to preferential distribution to large companies, rural hydraulic infrastructure, transparency and participation by agricultural workers in decisions affecting their production.

At noon, Plataforma 4:20 will hold a traveling event at three locations, collecting signatures, discussing cannabis rights and legislation, and offering harm-reduction workshops. At 1 p.m., the Colectivo “Casanova” will gather at CCH Vallejo to put up a display naming alleged harassers and abusers before the student community. The Movimiento de Regeneración Sindical is also due to collect signatures during the day at the Institute to Return Stolen Property, opposing the secretary general of the union mentioned in the report.
