President Donald Trump is slated to deliver remarks at the rescheduled gathering.

The upcoming speech has been characterized by the White House as "unifying yet vicious." This description suggests a dual approach, aiming to foster a sense of unity while simultaneously addressing the often contentious relationship between the President and the press, a relationship marked by Trump's frequent criticism of news coverage as "fake news."

This year's dinner faced disruption in April when an individual attempted to bypass security and fired a shotgun outside the venue as the President and cabinet members were preparing to enter. The incident led to the postponement of the event. The rescheduled dinner will take place at the Waldorf Astoria hotel under significantly enhanced security measures.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated the President's speech would be "simultaneously unifying and vicious, serious and funny, if you can imagine that." She assured that the address would be entertaining. Despite Trump's past criticisms and lawsuits against media outlets, he has maintained a higher level of direct engagement with reporters compared to some previous presidents, often taking questions in public forums and speaking with journalists by phone.
