Who is Paulo García, Morena’s new Mexico City leader?

Paulo Emilio García has taken over as president of Morena in Mexico City after building a career through the party’s territorial and public-service structures.

García currently represents Coyoacán in the Mexico City Congress and serves as spokesperson for Morena’s parliamentary group. He studied political science at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and is pursuing a master’s degree in comparative public policy at FLACSO.

His political activity began with student leadership and territorial organizing. During the transition from Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s administration, he worked as a federal welfare official known as a Servant of the Nation.

García later coordinated the Benito Juárez Scholarships program and served as technical secretary of Coyoacán’s Security and Peacebuilding Cabinet. He has also held the post of local councillor.

As Morena’s congressional spokesperson, García has promoted a vision of Mexico City focused on prosperity, good government, security, and care for residents, while emphasizing close contact with local communities.
