Why I walked out of Okocha rematch ring — Portable

Street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has explained his decision to walk out of the ring during his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha.

Portable, who was disqualified from the bout held at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos, insisted he was unfairly attacked. He alleged that Okocha resorted to wrestling instead of boxing and claimed he was bitten during the fight. In a video posted on his Instagram page, Portable displayed wounds on his back and body, asserting, "He bit me. I landed a heavy hit on him."

The singer maintained that he had dominated the fight before the incident, claiming he landed more punches. "Normally, I beat him up. Man to man, one man is tougher than another. I dealt him a huge blow," he said. Portable explained his exit from the ring by stating he no longer wished to participate in such fights, emphasizing the value of his career over the prize money. "He bit me, number one. He choked my neck. Camera it. That’s why I say I don’t fight again. I’m big! I’m bigger than the money! I’m a star!" he declared.

Portable had promised to deliver 10 blows and felt he fulfilled that promise. The fight, tagged "Unfinished Business," was a rematch of their controversial first encounter, which Okocha had claimed was unfairly awarded to Portable. Before the scuffle escalated, Portable appeared to have the upper hand, but the contest devolved into a wrestling-like scuffle, with officials struggling to separate the fighters.

Although Portable later returned to the ring, officials disqualified him, awarding the victory to Okocha. Prior to the fight, Portable had expressed unhappiness but hoped for a positive outcome.
