Why I want to be NBA President – Badejo-Okunsanya

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okunsanya, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is seeking the presidency of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) with a vision to enhance member welfare and professional interests. She emphasizes the need for the association to evolve beyond serving only private legal practitioners.

Badejo-Okunsanya highlighted that the NBA's membership is diverse, encompassing lawyers in public service, academia, and corporate organizations. She stressed that all members deserve equal attention and representation. If elected, her administration plans to prioritize improving members' welfare, creating better professional opportunities, and strengthening the protection and dignity afforded to legal practitioners.

She also plans to restructure the Bar for greater inclusivity and ensure lawyers receive adequate protection and respect.

The Chief Judge of Taraba State, Justice Joel Agya, wished her success and urged her to focus on unity among NBA branches and foster a stronger relationship between the Bar and the Bench. The Chairman of the NBA Jalingo Branch, Dr Philimon Saredau, and other legal professionals in Taraba pledged their support for her candidacy. The Director-General of her campaign, Mr Aminu Gadanya (SAN), expressed confidence in securing the support of the Jalingo Branch members.
