Why married women cheat on their husbands? The answer might surprise you

A survey conducted by the infidelity-focused website Ashley Madison reveals a significant marital issue: a lack of sexual intimacy. The study, which polled 74,600 members across 26 countries, found that one in five married women are living in a "sexless marriage."

American women reported the highest prevalence of this issue, with 22% admitting they do not have sex with their husbands. This figure is notably higher than in other surveyed countries, including the United Kingdom (18%), Hong Kong (16%), Spain (12%), France (9%), and Italy and Brazil (both 8%).

The research indicates that a primary driver for seeking extramarital affairs is the absence of sexual relations within the marriage. The platform, designed to connect married individuals seeking partners for affairs, gathered data correlating marital sexual frequency with its members' registration on the site.

"In the US, married people have the same dilemmas as in other countries, but we did not expect the results to show that one in five women lives in a marriage without sex," the study's findings concluded, highlighting the widespread nature of this intimate disconnect.
