Professor Christopher Imumolen, the factional presidential candidate and National Chairman of the Accord Party, has announced his withdrawal from the 2027 presidential race. He declared his endorsement for President Bola Tinubu's second term, stating that the president is well-positioned to win due to his ongoing reforms, leadership qualities, and increasing national support.

Imumolen made this announcement at a news conference in Lagos on Friday, following extensive consultations with the party's leadership and members. He emphasized that national interest should supersede personal ambition and partisan considerations. According to Imumolen, Nigerians are beginning to recognize the long-term advantages of the current administration's reform agenda, despite current economic challenges.

"Tinubu will win because of his people-oriented programmes and the massive support he has received from different parts of the country," Imumolen stated. He argued for continuity, suggesting that a new leader would need to start afresh, whereas Tinubu has identified challenges and is guiding the nation into its next phase. Imumolen's endorsement is based on ten key reasons, including Tinubu's courage in implementing difficult economic reforms, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to progressive governance.
