Wike’s outburst shows fear of opposition, can’t denigrate Amaechi — ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has sharply criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his recent statements aimed at diminishing the political standing of former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi. The party contends that Wike's persistent attacks reveal his fear of growing opposition rather than confidence in his political strength.

The attention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rivers State Chapter, has been drawn to the latest media outburst by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, in which he launched yet another barrage of attacks against the Leader of our Party, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, while desperately attempting to convince Rivers people that the 2027 election is already settled.

Specifically, the ADC dismissed Wike's assertion that the 2027 election in Rivers State is already decided and that any candidate he backs will easily win. The party's Rivers State Publicity Secretary, Chizi Enyi, stated that every election presents unique challenges and that voters are increasingly aware. He questioned why Wike expends considerable time and resources attacking individuals he claims lack political value, suggesting this behavior indicates anxiety.

Ordinarily, we would not dignify such comments with a response. However, it is necessary to set the record straight.

Enyi further argued that Wike's references to past election results overlook the dynamic nature of politics, where outcomes are determined by citizens under current conditions. The ADC emphasized that Amaechi remains one of Rivers State's most influential political leaders, whose record in governance and public service speaks for itself. The party stated that Amaechi's legacy does not require validation from those who prioritize personal loyalty over political substance.

It is ironic that a man who has repeatedly claimed that the opposition poses no threat has continued to devote so much time and energy attacking the very people he says have no electoral value.
