The V-League 2026-2027 season hangs in the balance as PVF-CAND and Bắc Ninh prepare for a crucial playoff match. The game, scheduled for June 12 at Hà Tĩnh Stadium, will determine which team earns a coveted spot in Vietnam's top football league.

PVF-CAND secured their playoff position by finishing second to last in the V-League 2025-2026 season. Despite accumulating the same points as Becamex Bình Dương, they avoided direct relegation due to a better head-to-head record. Meanwhile, Bắc Ninh earned their playoff chance by finishing as runners-up in the First Division 2025-2026, amassing 45 points.

This marks PVF-CAND's third playoff appearance, having lost their previous two attempts. The team boasts young talent, including several U23 national team players. Bắc Ninh, however, counters with a squad rich in experience, featuring former national team players like goalkeeper Huỳnh Tuấn Linh and striker Hà Đức Chinh. Notably, Bắc Ninh previously invited coach Park Hang Seo as a consultant, signaling their strong ambition.

The match features a tactical battle between coaches Trần Tiến Đại of PVF-CAND and Paulo Foiani of Bắc Ninh, who previously worked together at Công An Hà Nội. Foiani expressed his determination, stating, "From the first day I arrived here, my dream and my goal were to bring the team to play in the V-League. Therefore, all our efforts throughout the season have been directed towards this match."

While PVF-CAND has the advantage of two foreign players, Bắc Ninh relies on the strong form of their naturalized striker Bruno Cunha, who scored 10 goals in 10 First Division matches. The playoff history shows that teams from the First Division have won only 4 out of 13 previous playoff encounters against V-League teams, suggesting an edge for PVF-CAND.
