Williams sisters receive US Open wild card, reunite in doubles after 4 years

Tennis legends Serena and Venus Williams are set to grace the courts of the US Open once again, having received a wild card entry for the 2026 women's doubles competition. This announcement by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) signifies the return of the iconic sister duo to Flushing Meadows, where they will compete together for the first time since their appearance in 2022.

Serena Williams, who boasts an impressive 23 Grand Slam singles titles, retired from professional tennis after the 2022 US Open. However, she made a comeback earlier this summer at the Queen's Club grass-court tournament in London. While the 44-year-old veteran had initially planned to partner with her 46-year-old sister Venus at Wimbledon, a knee injury sustained during the grass-court season disrupted those plans.

More recently, the sisters competed in the Cincinnati women's doubles event, where they were eliminated in the first round. Following this, Serena teamed up with Spanish rising star Carlos Alcaraz for mixed doubles at the US Open, reaching the quarterfinals. Venus Williams has also received a wild card for the US Open singles main draw.

Throughout their illustrious careers, the Williams sisters have achieved remarkable success as a doubles pair at the US Open, clinching the title on two occasions in 2009 and 2019.
