Wimbledon: Sonego, Berrettini, Cobolli Advance; Paolini in Action

Italian tennis players Lorenzo Sonego, Matteo Berrettini, and Flavio Cobolli have all advanced to the third round of Wimbledon.

Sonego emerged victorious from a grueling five-set match against Canada's Gabriel Diallo, lasting over four hours. The Turin native, ranked 69th in the ATP, won with a score of 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 6-7, 6-2. He is set to face American Taylor Fritz, the sixth seed, in the next round.

On Centre Court, Berrettini, the 2021 Wimbledon finalist, defeated France's Arthur Fils, the 20th seed, in four sets: 6-4, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3. Berrettini will play the winner of the match between Jakub Mensik and Grigor Dimitrov.

Cobolli, seeded ninth, also progressed by beating Australia's James Duckworth, ranked 79th in the world. Cobolli won 7-6, 3-6, 7-6, 6-1 and will next meet Russia's Karen Khachanov, the 19th seed.

However, the day saw a setback for Italy in the women's singles. 18-year-old Tyra Grant, fresh off her first Grand Slam win, lost in straight sets to Czech player Marie Bouzkova, the 21st seed. Bouzkova secured the win with a 7-5, 6-3 scoreline.
